I need a little help please!

Hi I have just started getting into DVD ripping. I went to chickenmans tutorial and downloaded very thing I was told to but have encounted the following problems. From the main website my TMPGEnc file is corrupt, my SmartRipper 2.41 gets and error at the end of everyrip, SmartRipper keeps telling me that no ASPI can be found (what is that and do I need it) and everytime I go to use DVD2SVCD it tells me that my IFO file is not created and won't le me do anything from there on.

Can someone who has XP and all working programs required to ripp, convert, and burn DVD's please give me the location where to download the items required and give me a brief run down on what I have to do.

I find Chickenman's tutorals great but I am getting frustrated with all the corrupt and not working files I keep getting.

I have heard that CCE is better for this program, where do I get it and when I get it what to I do to make it work with DVD2SVCD.

Please help me,

Dark Sith

Try updating ASPI to 4.6. I do backups (DVD2SVCD) all the time. I get great results using CCE 2.5. You can try DVD Decypter, but CM recommends SmartRipper, which is just as good. Download the attachment, install, then reboot and try and rip a dvd and see what happens.

It's my pleasure to help you ;) Give CM a pat on the back for outstanding tutorials. So have you had a chance to burn the files and play on your home DVD player? If so, how would you grade the video quality on a scale form 1-10? I give it a 11A+ :D ;)

I have not had the chance to burn the movie yet as every darn vcd easy i have downloaded from the net will not install due to corrupt files.... Thats really starting to test my toast let me give you the tip. Is there another program I can use that cuts the movies in two for burning.... I have nero 5.5 OEM and Roxio easy creator 5 platium installed but can't seem to work out how to cut the files to get them on to two cd's.

Mate I tell you when I woke up the other morning and said hey Im going to buy a DVD rom and rip SVCD's i did not think it would be that hard but.............................man I was really wrong!

I've had best success burning SVCD with Nero (5.5.9.9) You'll need the MPEG2_SVCD plugin and you can search this forum to download (links). I had my troubles with VCDEasy as well, and went back to faithful Nero ;) Go to out main website and search Nero, you should what you need :D Be sure to download Nero 5.5.9.9 keygen too......

Incorrect, you do NOT need any MPEG2 plugin for Nero to burn a SVCD, the pluggin is ONLY used by those that for some crazy reason want to use Nero to encode an AVI or MPG to a SVCD.

Dark Sith, DVD2SVCD should have cut the file for you and you should have either 2 or 3 MPG files or 2-3 sets of Cue/Bin files ready to burn out. If you have MPG files then burn them as a SVCD with Nero, VCDEasy (prefered), NTI, WinOnCD, etc. If they were cue/bin files, then you can also use Nero (Burn Image from Files tab), CDRWin, Fireburner, etc
