I have no Idea where this goes

Does the people known as Microsoft

Have a blocking function in place where is to stop you connecting
to the net if you have any copy of any of their products installed on your computer

Why I ask is a friend has a copy of a program
They update automatically aand now they can not connect to the net

I dont really see anything else which may effect the connection other than that

Am I dreaming or is there

cheers

told you I have no idea where this goes

I do not think that his software is preventing him from connecting to the internet. I would look elsewhere for the cause of the problem.

Although Microsoft could disable use of a copied version of their software, they are not legally entitled to take control of your internet connection.

but they are legaly entitled to take control of their software, and that includes ie and internet connection wizzard ;) as well as their OS

ABCMan, do you think his internet connection problems could be caused by this? You are right about the internet connection wizard, but I was under the impression that his modem wasn't logged in at all.

as poko says its more likely to be an update error, m$ policy is that if it detects illegal software it simply redirects you to a registration page allowing you to purchase a legal key to allow you to continue to use your software, i am not aware that they have yet started to actualy block people (but it is coming with their new licencing agreements)
