I have a serious problem with the management of this software.

Now before I begin:
1. I love this program.
2. I appreciate the work being put into it.
3. I didn't want to have to post this but to me this is just unacceptable.

My problem is that my machine crashed on sunday night. I lost everything. I redid my whole system and immediately emailed the contact address to aquire a new version of dvdstripper so I could get started again. I waited until late tuesday night and still did not receive anything. So I emailed again and still have not got anything. The worst part is that after that first part is dealt with and I get the program I then have to wait for another email because I will need to send my new computer id and wait for a registration code repsonse.

Okay I understand people may be busy and can't respond to my email in a day or whatever. But I paid for the damn software. That is my problem with grassroot projects like this. I understand the whole computer id thing and why they do it. But when you pay for something it is yours. I should have it at all times or at least have access to it. It is stupid that I should have to wait the 2 plus days that it has allready been for something I have allready paid for and have the right to have. Maybe I should have backed it up to cd or something. Yes, of course that would get me past step one of the problem. But since I haven't gotten an email reply I would still be waiting here now whether I had the program or not.

I have talked with MackemX a ton of times through email and pm so I am not trying to bash or anything. I have a lot of respect for the guy and what he is trying to do here. I have even reported a few of the bugs that are now being worked on.

I just think something needs to be done with the registration process. This is just not fair to people that bought it. Most people will probably shrug off this message because they have theirs running fine and what happened to mine isn't extremely common, but take a second and think about if it did happen and all you wanted was to just get your system back up and running.

Menuedit - not to compare or anything like this but it is the only way I feel that I can describe an efficient registration process. In the crash I lost menudedit as well. I simply went to menuedits website and went to the download link. I downloaded the newest version of the program for Registered Users. I opened it up and it gave me my computer id. I then went online to the registration page and put that in with my other payment and registration info and it gave me my registration code. I was off and going with no outside help and in a manner of minutes.

I think if something like that can be implemented here that would greatly improve the efficiency of this project.

Well that is my whole complaint. I hope that this message will serve two causes. One, to help rectify my problem that I am having and two, to help offer some constructive criticism for ways to better improve this operation.

P.S. I know everyone will disagree, but I really think you are selling this product for way to cheap, especially with the menu addon coming. I know to me it is worth a lot more than I paid for it and a ton of other software. Something to keep in mind.

I can understand your up-set but I think you might want to read a little and cut the guy some slack. From what I've read and from the few times I've have been in contact with MackemX hes a stand up guy. So the best I can tell you is give him a break and I'm sure your problem will be taken care of.

As I said I am not trying to give him a hard time. I have deep respect for him and he has helped me many times. I was simply upset about the time it took which again I said could be just that he was busy. I was understanding to that fact, but my real point was that the whole way it is done is inconvienent and the suggestion of a better way.

On another note I received both the files I needed today and when I get home I will try them out. I appreciate that this problem was taken care of and I hope something can be thought up to improve this situation in the future.

I can appreciate your frustration Sonics99, but MackemX is dealing with a lot of crap right now. He needs our support more than ever!

MackemX has always been an incredible standup guy around this Forum and I'm sure will deal with your problems/suggestions as soon as he can.

I for one would like to say publicly to MackemX and TMG.... thanks for all your hard work! And I know I speak for the Forum leadership in saying that you will always have a home here!

I have a totally different experience. Past monday one of the RAID controllers on my mainboard crashed (hardware malfunction). Because of that, I lost all of my data, including DVDStripper. I sent an email to the author explaining the situation. Within the hour I received a new copy of the software and my last key. It worked immediately :) So I just wanted to express my gratitude for the service and making this fantastic piece of software.

I guess it just depends when I'm around as some get it within minutes and some take longer. As long as people understand I simply cannot be at the PC 24/7 then everything should be fine :)

if I haven't replied it's either I have overlooked your email or, as in most cases, the email has not arrived for some reason which looks like the case here as I only got one email at just before midnight when I was tucked up in bed but I replied the next day

I know a few tools that started off this way and have now got online registration options and maybe in time DS will have it but for now it's staying the same ;)

p.s. I hope you've backed up this time :)
