Now before I begin:
1. I love this program.
2. I appreciate the work being put into it.
3. I didn't want to have to post this but to me this is just unacceptable.
My problem is that my machine crashed on sunday night. I lost everything. I redid my whole system and immediately emailed the contact address to aquire a new version of dvdstripper so I could get started again. I waited until late tuesday night and still did not receive anything. So I emailed again and still have not got anything. The worst part is that after that first part is dealt with and I get the program I then have to wait for another email because I will need to send my new computer id and wait for a registration code repsonse.
Okay I understand people may be busy and can't respond to my email in a day or whatever. But I paid for the damn software. That is my problem with grassroot projects like this. I understand the whole computer id thing and why they do it. But when you pay for something it is yours. I should have it at all times or at least have access to it. It is stupid that I should have to wait the 2 plus days that it has allready been for something I have allready paid for and have the right to have. Maybe I should have backed it up to cd or something. Yes, of course that would get me past step one of the problem. But since I haven't gotten an email reply I would still be waiting here now whether I had the program or not.
I have talked with MackemX a ton of times through email and pm so I am not trying to bash or anything. I have a lot of respect for the guy and what he is trying to do here. I have even reported a few of the bugs that are now being worked on.
I just think something needs to be done with the registration process. This is just not fair to people that bought it. Most people will probably shrug off this message because they have theirs running fine and what happened to mine isn't extremely common, but take a second and think about if it did happen and all you wanted was to just get your system back up and running.
Menuedit - not to compare or anything like this but it is the only way I feel that I can describe an efficient registration process. In the crash I lost menudedit as well. I simply went to menuedits website and went to the download link. I downloaded the newest version of the program for Registered Users. I opened it up and it gave me my computer id. I then went online to the registration page and put that in with my other payment and registration info and it gave me my registration code. I was off and going with no outside help and in a manner of minutes.
I think if something like that can be implemented here that would greatly improve the efficiency of this project.
Well that is my whole complaint. I hope that this message will serve two causes. One, to help rectify my problem that I am having and two, to help offer some constructive criticism for ways to better improve this operation.
P.S. I know everyone will disagree, but I really think you are selling this product for way to cheap, especially with the menu addon coming. I know to me it is worth a lot more than I paid for it and a ton of other software. Something to keep in mind.
