I have a Problem backing up a DVD! Help!(newbie)

I have a Problem backing up a DVD

This ccould be just a "weird" problem with this one DVD, and maybe I am overreacting but...
When I try to backup a DVD movie of mine(for personal use), I've noticed that before I put a DVD disc in the drive it is recognized as a "DVD-RW" drive, but when the disc is in, the drive turns to a "CD-Drive"(all this is from the "My Computer" directory. Maybe it's just a problem with the movie I'm trying to burn, but I don't see why.I may be wrong, but I think maybe that the burner is burning the DVD disc with the cd laser, instead of the DVD one? I don't know. Can you help me out. I have made copies of about 6 other DVD's of mine with no problem. Maybe it's just this disc for some reason? But if it is, the description of the drive shouldn't change to a CD-Drive when I put a DVD in, blank or otherwise right?

Help!

Here's some info:

Internal Plextor 708a Drive(replaced my CD-RW drive. I literally just replaced one drive with the other. Used same IDE cable that was on the old drive, etc.)
Windows XP(Home)
1.4Ghz Hewlett Packard
640MB RAM
120GB Hard Drive
Just installed the latest firmware update(1.04)
And was going to install drivers but it says none are needed if you run XP

this is perfectly normal. did u try burning the dvd at all?
