i have a case and i need an advice

hi...
i know that what you will read now is covered many times in your forum ..... and really i read almost all of them ..... but really i need a little advice.

i have 2 hardisks ( 2 physical sperated H.D.D ) in one of them (20 gb) i have installed WINme and the other one ( 40 gb) also WINme and i switch between them by the BIOS.....
the main thing that i do that things is for my CDr drive ..... beacuse it allways fail to burn cds because the system has too many programs and there is conflicting in all the time.

now what i want is to :
1)in the first H.D.D i want to install WINme with xp
and they say in other posts that i can easly insert the xp cd and make then a dual boot between the two OSs.
but does the xp will make a new partion for it or not ?
and if no .... how i can make a partion ? (really i don't now!!!, can it done by Fdisk in the dos?? )
2) how can i use system commander ( please don't tell me read their acrobat file )?
3) how can i solve the problem of my CDR drive without making any new OS ?

thank you and sory for this long post

If you want to install Win XP in another partition of the 1st HD, you need create it.

To create a new partition with Fdisk you will destroy all data in your HD (and Win ME too)

I suggest you do the follow:

1) Made a entire backup of your HD ( Norton Ghost is good for this)

2) Use Partition Magic to create a new partition in the 1st HD. Use the NTFS system ( Win XP use this).

3) Install Win XP direct from CD. You need 1st adjust your 1st boot device in BIOS setup to CD-ROM.

4) Choose this new partition to install Win XP. Choose to format this new partition NTFS (not quick) and not FAT.

5) When the install finish you have in the next machine boot, automatic boot choise either Windows XP and Windows ME.

And about your CDR drive, I think is better you use your new Win XP with few burn programs or your second ME with the same (few burn progs).

I hope this help you !!!
