I closed DVD XCopy after the read..help!

I've read all the posts I can find on the subject, but all I can find is "don't close DVD X Copy Xpress after the read." Too late, here's what I did...

I installed DVD X Copy Xpress 3.0.5 Trial, started up the program & read one of my DVD's. I set the temp directory to be my desktop. After the read, I couldn't get the program to recognize that I put in a blank DVD (tried several brands & types in my TDK 440N drive). In trying to get the program to recognize the blank DVD I hit Enter...that aparently closes the program. So, I restarted the program, rebooted & read the DVD again. It still wouldn't recognize my blank DVD after the read and I closed the program again. Then I noticed that almost 10GB of my hard drive was used & I couldn't find the new temp image files anywhere.

Anyone know how to hunt down & delete the temp files? I can't find them anywhere & I want my hard drive space back!

Thanks,
-Groucho

Hi Groucho, Welcome to our forum! :cool:

You tried cleaning Window's two temp folders allready?
You have "Norton Unerase" as part of Norton System Works or Norton Utilities installed? If yes, use Norton's wizard to erase the protected files.

use find files and specify files over a certain file size you should not have that many over a gig no doubt these will be either a) a system restore file or b) you missing image files :)

Oddly, I tried to search for them exactly how you suggested...files over 1gb modified today & no luck. I don't have Norton Unerase installed, but I did somehow manage to get rid of the files. After a couple reboots, I ran DVD XCopy again & my disk space reappeared. I don't get it, but I'll take it!.

Thanks for all the help! Now, if only it would recognize when I put in new media after I read one of my DVD's. Hmm...

Off to try again,

I had the same problem when I started using DVDXCOPY with WinXP Home. I installed the newest aspi layer from Roxio to get it to work correctly. I found out this trick from the 321 DVDXCOPY's help forum and troubleshooting FAQ.

Are you sure it isn't a media incompatibility problem?
to investigate this, you could try burning ordinary data as Data DVD with your favorite burning application;

hey groucho ! why don't you try search files and folders and type in the name of the movie you tried to copy.this should find it. also you should name a new folder on the C:drive my dvd movies so as not to loose anymore in the temp folder...another thing is try to get and use dvdxcopy express this will stop you from using 2 disc's to make 1 movie...it will all fit onto 1 disc with express.... :p

Mojo8850....you also should try to up-grade to the xpress version of dvd xcopy......you wont need to split the movie anylonger..it will all fit onto one disc..then if you want to remove those nag screens and warnings and go further try.. ifoedit.....this is an extra plus...i use both and love the results..i copy and backup.use ifoedit and bamm ! straight to the movie. :cool:
