How Well NeroNET Works

NeroNET is a network-capable extension of the Nero burner program, which can be used in an IP-capable Intranet. The aim is to give all Intranet users easy access to all available recorders.

NeroNET Server and NeroNET Client

In this system NeroNET consists of two components: NeroNET-Server and Nero (Client). As NeroNET-Server, it will run on all computers with burner capability ('Burn servers'). Nero (Client) runs on one users computer. If the burn server is also equipped with a printer, the newly burned CD can also be matched with the appropriate label, made possible by the accompanying Nero Cover Designer.

The Nero version that you are already familiar with represents the Client and is extended by the NeroNET-Server version

How does NeroNET work?

NeroNET is the client/server version of Nero. It combines the functionality of Nero with a client/server technology used by many companies to connect their computers to a network. A user can work from any given workstation at which NeroNET is installed, create his own combination, initiate burning and send the corresponding label to the burner server. Initially, the user creates an image of the medium and its label locally at their own workstation.

Tip: To learn more about the program, you can take a look at our webversion NeroNET-Server immediately and switch back and forth. Click here

Additional information:

NeroNET will only run with one burner. It is not possible to connect several burners simultaneously.
NeroNET and Nero (Client) cannot run simultaneously on the same PC.
DVD burners are not supported at this time.
CD or CD-RW media are supported up to max. 700 MB

Oh is this not an odd thing I found in my system log.
Since when does nero depend on the built in windows XP cd burning system?

The NeroNET service depends on the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service service which failed to start because of the following error:

The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

I have IMAPI disabled so that windows XP build in CD burning support does not interfere with Nero in the first place.

Nice.

DO NOT INSTALL NERONET!!!!

This program is destructive.... here's why. (Aside from the stupid fact it depends on the WinXP IMAPI Burning Service)

I have been noticing programs that start with windows have been dissapearing. (especially them system tray apps)

the problem is that when you UnInstall NeroNET - it wipes out every entry under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\run

This key contains all program startup entries for ALL USERS on the computer.

Programs like Norton Antivirus 2003, Sygate Personal Firewall Pro, CloneCDElbyCDFL, and a bunch of other things FAIL to start.

THIS IS NOT COOL. I expected better from Ahead - I think I will be letting them know bout this one.

I have warned ya all - please spare yourselves the agony of having to re-install yer apps.

Well I guess Ahead needed alot of beta testers without telling them they were going to be beta testers and just wanted to see what would happen with their prog. Did anyone ever hear about this prog before it was even released?

Rasta don´t forget the "Nero fast burning plug in for the windows media player"...no need for the roxio drivers anymore..haha

Yes Yes Yes and Yesssssssssss Mediaplayer:( I tend to keep away from it when I can:) Thanks Master that did slip my mind.

LOL.....At least, they do their best to fix it......:D
I think it's great for a software company to have such an amount of bétatesters.......Alcohol 120% and Jamieo(Burnatonce) have less support to fix their probs.....
Well,1 thing for shure,Nero 6 will not have these bugs, all will be fixed when they release that 1...:D
