How to reverse adult mod?

Hey MackemX

While I continue to covet "my DVDStripper" for how efficiently & reliably it performs, I am now ""suffering"" from having recently 'upgraded' my copy from "PG" to "XXX" despite your caveats! ;-)

When I performed the 'visual upgrade', I thought I would get "R" rated results; not a virtual lap-dance.

Until such time as a "reversal scheme" is published, I will have to continue to run your masterpiece in a plain brown wrapper or face sleeping on THE couch!

In that thread he does hint at being able to undo it via some registry editting. I'd help look for the proper keys in the registry but I am waiting on my key before I can use the program. I'll look at it once I do get it though.

The reference to a registry unhack is why I did the hack in the first place. It can't be both irreversible and reversible. For that matter, it can't be irreversible. An uninstall and reinstall should work unless there's some buried crud in the registry. So, this comes back to the question, how do you get rid of it?

For that matter, why is it even in the program? Isn't there more than enough of this stuff on the web already?

I could tell you how to get rid of it via the registry but I don't want people then saying my Registry is a mess and my DVDStripper wont work. It's a knock on effect. If you already have a decent knowledge of regiedt then you will soon see how to do it with a little searching :)

So why did you download and install it? :) I stated good enough reasons NOT to do it and made a quite clear disclaimer. I knew if I didn't I'd have a lot more people asking how to get rid of it as they would just download it because it's there. I asked for no negative comments either. It's not as if I'm not trying to warn people :(

I've deleted the thread again as someone will soon say how to edit the registry anyway and then everyone will be trying it. Again I don't want people coming to the forum and then saying my DVDStripper doesn't work etc

the next version doesn't even have the splash so I'd prefer to wait until then ;)

Ah darn it. You deleted the thread before I could even try it. I gather you didn't want the method for returning it back to normal published even if I could do it (which I can't now as I didn't think I would need to save the directions to enable it).

Yes, I did go throught he registry looking for all occurrences of "dvdstrip" and no, I didn't see anything which looked like a switch.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\DVDStripper\SETTINGS\FSK might be what you think is obvious but that's not a boolean field. As you point out, uninformed registry modification is very risky.

Odds are that is likely the key as I do not appear to have that path. I also did not get a chance to get the directions to perform the Adult Hack prior to it's deletion. If anyone has the instructions on performing it. Please PM with them. TYIA.

As for safely working with the registry, one thing you could do is rename FSK to FSK.old. Start DVDStripper and see if the things are back to PG rated. If not then that wasn't it, close out, rename FSK.old back to FSK.

I give up ;), here is a key for anyone that wants to remove it but I will say now, don't blame me if it upsets your system

all I will say is that it works on my system so please no grief as I asked this last time, yet I was ignored :(

I tried to warn people not to download it in the first place but it looks like the Disclaimer wasn't enough warning. I guess I knew this would happen and I wish I hadn't done it now :(. I've learn't my lesson and I hope anyone who downloaded it and changed their mind also has ;)

thread locked as it's sorted now :)
