How to play Svcd with Windows Mediaplayer

It seems stupid, but I no longer can watch svcd movied with the windows mediaplayer. Do I miss a codec?
Help please

I read the message of Uli and I uninstalled Divx 5.01 Pro, but without result. I still cant play svcd

Hi Nugget,

you could use Sthsvcd (also called sometimes Sthdvd). It can play svcd's from your CD Rom drive...
It's an asian software. It's no more freeware now, but I believe you can still get it from there :

I don't remember where I got the latest version from. Try the two sites

Install WinDVD and you can then use Windows Media Player or WinDVD to play your SVCD's.

i have a svcd codec for wmp. it came from sharereactor page nad was listed beside lord of the rings screener. it works fine with wmp 7.1 and wmp 8.0 of xp.

on the other side i'm still using svcd with powerdvd.

Stil I wonder why Windows mediaplayer no longer plays SVCD.
I installed a bunch of codecs, that's probably the reason.
Someone knows how to remove all of divx codecs and start fresh again?

Most of the used codecs are in the windows\system folder with a .acm, .dll and .ax extension.
But, there is something in the registry, maybe, or somewhere else...
