How to make downloaded mandrake 9 iso bootable on cd

I just downloaded cd1 mandrake 9 iso from the net and burned to a cd, since i don't have a floppy drive i wonder if i can make the cd bootable. As is when i boot from the cd it says it is a invalid disk. I check the root of the cd and i don't see any .img files.

I used nero 5.5.10 it is something like 690mb. i just select cd(iso) and burn. oh yeah when i put the cd in while i'm in windowXP the installation screen comes up. i was wondering how you check the md5 thing. it also comes with a readme file that i can't open either, thanks.

Maybe you ISO image i corrupted. Or maybe XP have f**ked up the
burn. Try to burn another copy of Mandrake CD1.

My iso is 711,264Kb...always make sure that you download the md5 sum file with the iso(s) to verify your files...it will always be in the same directory on the server as you are downloading the files from...

Once you have the iso and the md5sum file...use this program.

http://www.therudeone.com/ftp/applications/easy_md5_creator/

This app is self explanitory, and not only does it create md5sums, it will verify them also. The third option down is the "Open" dialog. Select it and then navigate to the folder in which BOTH the md5sum file and the iso(s) that it validates are located. They must all be together in the same folder.

Once you select the md5sum file, just follow the prompts and it will verify all files referenced in the md5sum and display the results. If verified, reburn the iso and try again...my iso boots and installs with no problems.

*edit*

...so forgetful. The Easy MD5 Creator is freeware, very cool...:D

First thanks for helping me out, i downloaded the md5 creator and check all 3 archive and turn out to be perfect. cd1 was 711,264kb before i extracted. ok i extracted to a folder and it turn out to be 7 folder and 11 files, is that right?

burned with nero and verify after burn and all was ok. set the computer boot cd first and it said it's not a vaild disk. the thing is aren't there suppose to be a .img file for the pc to regonise is a boot cd.

here are what i got on the cd:

7 folders- doc, dosutils, images, isolinux, mandrake, misc, tutorial

11 files- autorun.ini, copying.file, index.htm, install.htm, install.txt, license.txt, live_update.file, pkg-9.0-Dolphin-i586.idx.file, readme.txt, RPM-GPG-KEYS.file, version.file

i don't know if it still don't boot i suppose i can get a stupid floppy drive and do it that way.

If you put mandrake in while running XP you will get "the installation set-up screen",just OK to install and your box should re-boot and go thru the installation process.

i was wondering about that zen, would i be able to do a clean install an wipe out windowxp completely and reformat from there?

Hmmm. cd2 contains some additional rpms. So u'll probably need cd2. cd3 contains manual and other stuffs. u won't need this one

Cool.. i guest i'll burn cd2 and make the switch now. wish me luck, good thing i still have windozexp on another machine just incase. first time for everything THANKS.;)

When you install mandrake you get the option of erasing all data on the drive you want to install to,so yes you can erase XP,best option is to do the install in expert mode as you have more control and it's still fairly simple to do.
CD2+3 give you extra programs and some of the files you need to make programs on CD1 work correctly, depending on your geographic location.

i was reading a review somwhere everything seem pretty easy only question i have on the expert mode is the partitioning. do i make 3 partition or something?
