Well,since you are new to this better arm yourself with lots of patience as video capturing and editing is not an easy task.
First;if you make-burn dvd full with nero mp4 files no standalones players will read it.Best bet is ti buy a new player which supports divx,but in that case you got to encode in divx-to be safe use a divx profiles so you got more chance to play it.
Yes you can capture satellite with video card-i did that before too but its a headache.Better use now one of those new dvd recorders-much faster better and easyer
