How to convert your DivX to DVD±R - nero step

I've been following the "How to convert your DivX to DVD±R" by ChickenMan, and I've made it to Step 5: DVDR Burning.
Part 2 where it says to :
"Click the New button and browse to your new VIDEO_TS folder (Right Hand window) and drag it to the VIDEO_TS folder in the left hand window. Drag the empty AUDIO_TS folder across also as this maybe needed for playback compatability with some DVD Players."

Now where it says to Drag the folder to the left pane...now whenever I try that I get "You have added a dvd-video content to a compilation type that will not result in a DVD-video compliant disc..."

I am using Nero version 6.3.1.25 by the way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I apologize to all for my dumb questions. I hope to give back to this hobby when I become more accustomed.

thanks,
furbreath
  :) :)

how much do u value the cost of a blank DVDR for a test !?

most of the time it WILL work ...JUST not in EVERY dvd player :)

try it and see :)

if your player SUPPORTS DVDRW then test on a rewritable :)

Try using this:http://www.coujo.de/ib/index.php?act=html_include&incl_name=download
(for the burning to dvd part) It uses the Nero API
Its really easy to use :)

I'm not so concerned with being able to burn it, but more to be able to follow the instructions properly set out by chicken man. I feel as if this error message means I am doing something wrong.

Exactly, you should not be getting that error with compilations made by DVD2SVCD & DVDAuthor. Did you use the inbuilt DVDAuthor to make the VIDEO_TS folder and its contents or have you manually authored the files with TMPGenc DVD Author or other?

Can you also post what GSPOT says about the Video & Audio for your AVI.

Since this is the first time I've done this, I have no idea what I've done or haven't done. I'm still a bit lost. I guess I will try following the instructions again, but this time keeping in mind what problem I encountered and the questions you've just asked of me.
I will post back probably in a few days when I'm off from work.

appreciate the help guys.
thanks,

I've also followed chickenman's guide and the results look good, but I have one question for da chicken (or others if they know the answer) .

The guide warns/notes that 18gb worth of files results from a 700 mb avi file conversion to dvd format  .

My noob question is simple: if the vob files are typically all that is required to do the final burn with nero or other proggies, what is the purpose of creating the other 14 gb of files  ?

Are they a necessary intermediate steps to get to the final files that need to be burned  ? It seems like an in-efficient process :( ?

@joe14580 the other files are for TEMP use for conversion of the audio and video files and may be delted after use or after dvd2svcd has used those files :)

So the only folders one need retain are the audio_ts and video_ts if one should want to do another DVD burn.

Thanks  .

All I've done so far is produce a folder called :
"seachange_disc1" with a subfolder called :
"video_ts" (which contains .vob, .ifo, and .bup files).
Also there is a subfolder under seachange_disc1 called :
"audio_ts" (which is empty)

I then went to step 6 since it is a type1 and encountered the above mentioned error message.

Can someone help me trouble shoot this problem? I have no idea what to do now.

I'll ask the question for the last time
Can you also post what GSPOT says about the Video & Audio for your AVI.
Can you also post what GSPOT says for Video & audio on one of the VOB files in your newly created Video-ts folder. You need to use GSPOT 2.5x beta to get the info on the VOB file.

I did a search of the document for "GSPOT" and the only linkS provided was for programs called "DivXRepair" and "DIVFIX".
Where can I get this "gspot"?

thanks,

I downloaded the latest gspot and opened one of the .vob files with that program. Most of the boxes show "na". The others just show the files size and the file type. Should I be doing something specific with this program?

Also to clear things up - I am basically just trying to convert a .iso image that is in pal format and put it in ntsc. The image has been shrunk with dvdshrink. I also used dvd decryptor to put the image in Audio_ts and video_ts folders so that i could do what you asked me to do. The document that everyone has referred me too is titled "how to convert your divx to dvd+-r"...now I say this because I just want to make sure anyone trying to help me realizes that I'm just trying to convert a .iso image in pal to ntsc.
