Web-streaming software company RealNetworks today said that it has ended its nine- month legal battle against rival ********* by agreeing to an out-of-court settlement.
As part of the deal, ********* has agreed to obey RealNetworks' copyrights when developing new products. More specifically, *******will stop letting its ******* software transform RealMedia streams into alternative formats and will modify its ********* to respect the copyrights of the RealSystem video player.
In addition, ***********will stop distributing its Ferret software plug-in, which allows people to search on its own engine as opposed to other search engines by embedding a button on RealNetworks' popular RealPlayer.
It also will pay RealNetworks an undisclosed sum of money. Financial details were not disclosed.
