How do you convert Xvid to DVD-R?

I used that guide which was going sweet until I tried to load it in Spruceup, it would'nt accept the "mpv" file. The original file was 23fps not sure if it remains like that after using DVD 2 SVCD, but i'm pal, not sure if that was the problem. I was just about to try again but this time ticking NTSC to PAL but on that guide that would cause it to be Jerky. So i'm back to square one for the time being, I cant believe i'm having all this trouble I was looking foward to watching a PUKKA CUT of a movie on dvd:confused:

If i was you Sony007 i'd convert your x-vid to mpg m8 useing tmpgenc. But first make sure you have all the codecs the film requires use g-spot to check the films codecs, This prog will also show you wot codecs you have installed. 23fps is ntsc frame speed tmpgenc will also altar this. If you find your tmpgenc doesn't reckonize the xvid use these settings in tmpenc

1) Open TMPGEnc and press Cancel if Wizard pops up
2) Go to Option->Environmental Setting...->VFAPI plug-in
3) Adjust the plug-in priorities (this is done by right clicking on
the plug-in and choosing Higher priority as many times as
necessary) to match the following:

DirectShow Multimedia File Reader3 (normal -1)
AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader........1 (normal 0)
AVI VFW compatibility Reader....0 (normal -2)
CyberLink MPEG-2 Decoder.........0
Microsoft MPEG-1 Decoder.........0
Wave File Reader.................0
BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG File Reader....-2 (normal 0)
DVD2AVI Project File Reader 1.76+.-2*
TMPGEnc Project File Reader 2.58....-2*

I then use Nero to burn to disc.

If you want to see a TUt on tmpgenc i've knocked up a simple step by step here http://slingshot.to/mrdead

Pulldown should have kicked in on the 23.976 FILM to convert it to a 29.97 NTSC. Check your folder for a Pulldown_Enco............ file, always use that one if it exists and NEVER the 23.976 file.

If Pulldown did not do its job, then just do it manually from the DOS or Command Prompt.

PULLDOWN inputfilename.mpv outputfilename.mpv

and wait a few min while it converts.
