How Do I Disconnect My Floppy?

I'd like to turn off my floppy in Windows XP Home. I'd rather not disconnect it from the inside. It starts up when I try to access my New DVDR. Is there anyway to temporarily disable the floppy without affecting anything else.

Unexpected floppy access, often occurs if some reference to it is left behind in a place where it gets accessed ... recent documents etc. or a default of "last used directory" when that was on the floppy.

It's annoying and hard to trace - did you use the floppy at some point, and it's been doing this since?

I never use the floppy. It seems like it started when I installed Norton System works a couple years ago. Can't I just go into Device Properties and click on disable a:Floppy? Can you show me the procedure in the BIOS? It will be much appreciated. I'm just thinking to disable it in the Device Properties area. I do not need it.

To disable the floppy in the bios, during boot, press 'del' or whatever you system wants to enter the bios. In the standard cmos setup page. Look for the floppy selection and choose 'none' for A: and B:. Save changes and exit. No more floppy! :p
