how do I determine firmware

I just received my Lite-on 401s today & would like to upgrade the firmware if necessary. How can I determine the existing firmware, & if an upgrade is warranted, what firmware would you guys recommend?

You can always check your hardware and firmware model in a windows explorer(rightclick on drive-properties)..also in a burning proggy too..like nero,rnmax,bao....Be vey carefull with upgrade--follow and be sure you understood the instructions well.Basically...all firmware upgrades bringing something possitive......You should always use last one---unless told otherwise..Also..some guys(me included)like to check enhancment list--so deciding after if its worth to upgrade...Like;dont fix if it ain`t broken.....If its dvd-burner(in your case)..i would probably ypgrade.couse dvd market is progressing fast--and this is probably fixes(new model)maybe some new media(faster speed for it....)
