Hi

Can't find an appropriate thread for this one.
A friend bought a DVD (NTSC - USA region) from Ebay. Obviously it dosen't play here in old blighty.
If I rip the DVD and re encode with DVD2SVCD will it play or is it not possible?

Thx
Jola

Most PAL DVD Players will playback an NTSC movie fine, assuming its also Multiregion unit. If the DVD is a single layer DVD5, then simply ripping with DVD Decrypter in ISO mode and then burning back will remove all Region settings (as well as encryption & macromedia). If its an old TV, it may not appear in colour, thats all. Then you will have to convert it, just follow the DVD to DVDR Tutorial and tick the NTSC to PAL box.

Thx Cm.
I'm usually doing the opposite conversion so bear with me.
My DVD player plays Pal & NTSC but only European, not US. Multiregion are not generally available here in the UK from the usual stores.
The DVD is 7.56gb (how do they do that on one DVD?) So do I take the "Step 4: Backing up DVD-9 Double Layer or Type 3 DVD's that require re-encoding." route?
Also will I end up with a 7.56gb file?

Thx
Jola

i can answer this rip with DECRYPTER this makes it MULTI region or 0 :)

shrink to fit a 4.7gb dvd -r using DVD SHRINK and make an ISO then burn the iso with DECRYPTER :)

Yep, just follow the Type3 directions, but use QuEnc as the encoder rather than CCE, as CCE is somewhat expensive if your just going to do the one encode. QuEnc is free. The end result will be a 4.3gb VIDEO_TS folder ready to burn out with Nero or whatever. As Viper said, you could tick the Make ISO box in DVD2SVCD and burn that out with DVD Decrypter as well. That way it can all be done with cost free software.

Thx CM & Viper

Is the CCE ncoder you refer to the same as the one used with the DVD2SVCD tute?
Also, this DVD has bonus features, will these be included in the finished article? Sorry but have never done it this way round before.
Btw, how do they get 7.56gb on one DVD?

Thx
Jola

Yep, the same CCE. The DVD2SVCD does main movie only, if you want the whole DVD as is but quality encoded down to fit to a 4.3gb DVDR, then I'd suggest DVD ReBuilder. It also uses Quenc or CCE. The encoding process compresses it down to fit, simple as that. But will take a few hours to process.

DVD Shrink can also do it, but with not as good quality.

After installing EclCCE it seems to install the CCE demo over the top of the full version resulting in the CCE watermark.
How do I get round that?
Thx
Jola

EclCCE copies nothing so fail to see how this can happen. All EclCCE does when it runs for the very first time, is writes out a small *.ini file with a pointer to your CCE executable, being cctsp.exe if using CCE SP 2.5. You have simply pointed it to your Demo version.
