How do I back up my files to DVD-R

Im buying a new PC tomorrow and I want to back up my files to disc. Is there any way I can back up to DVD-R instead of using CD-R as last time I backed my files up it took loads of CD-R's?

it's easy like burning CD-R: create a new Data DVD (UDF) compilation in your favorite burning application, add your files, and burn;

But why not transferring via LAN (Ethernet cross cable)?

like Duracell said, backing up data to dvd+/-r is pretty much exactly like backing up to a cd-r. instead of starting a data cd compilation, start a data dvd compilation instead.

Which would be the best program to use though? I've looked on Nero 6 under DVD and it doesn't mention creating a data DVD. Is there another program I need to use?

EZ CD Creator 5 with the patch can backup the data files the way you want. I have used it only a couple of times, but no problems. The drive reading the disk has to be able to read the format. My Toshiba DVD-ROM drive will not read DVD-RW, but it does read DVD-R.

If you're using Nero 6 and are not too familiar with DVD burning, click on Nero Express/Data Disk/Data and it will do all the settings for you.

Toshiba DVD-ROM drives read both -R and -RW disks with no problems at all- as well as +R and +RW with most known brands of disks. Esay Cd Cremator users should not expect much, or any decent helping tip though... other than binning Cremator once and for good.
