Hi guys, I have a USB printer attached to my XP PC, how can I use my iBook to print to it?

the computers are linked by Ethernet (PC has broadband and Mac has access to it) as well as Bluetooth (dongles on both)

what's the easiest way?

I've heard of some software called "Dave" but it's about £100 and I'm skint!
is there any freeware available?

any help would be very much appreciated

Assuming your printer is Mac compatible it should work without to much fuss,
Set the printer on you XP System as share. Locate the correct printer drivers for your Mac, on installation tell the driver where to look for the printer, select the option browse (network Printer on usb port).
I'll do some more searching into it, if you have more qestions e-mail me @ volker@iinet.net.au.

ummmmmmmmmmm isnt there USB ports on MAC'S then !? i thought usb was a UNIVERSAL sorta standard !? can u not just plug the usb into the usb on the mac and then get a driver for the mac to work it ?!

correct me if im wrong people !?

I understand that he wants to print via netwwork, whithout having to plug+unplug the printer.
For MACOSX or modern Linux this requires just a couple of clicks- for MACOS 7-9.X it is quite messy and requiring additional software.
