How can I strip all the audio out of a video clip in mpeg or avi format?

I want to strip the sound out of a video clip so I can add in high quality audio instead of the crappy sound in the clip. What king of application will do this? I would appreciate any help. I am fairly new to dvd burning.

USE V-DUB (virtual dub) search google for "Virtual dub" no quotes and use that for avi to save the audio out or the video whichever you decide :)

for mpeg search for "virtual dub mpeg" no quotes for an mpeg specific version :)

I would go with VirtualDubMod for AVI's. Make sure that video is set to directstreaming, then go to the streams menu and double click on the existing audio, this will disable it, then just goto add stream and add your new audio. Then just save out a new AVI.

If you use VDub for MPG, then you will have to re-encode the video and save out as an AVI, OGM or MKV. For MPG I would suggest TMPGEnc instead as you can leave the video and container as is. Use the multiplex tool to add your original audio and new mp2 audio.
