how can i play .ram without installing real player?

ok i have in the past installed real player and was not impressed with it to say the least.
it seemed to take over all file associations and generally be a pain in the ass.
so what im looking for is either a plugin for winamp or windows media player that works without installing real player.
failing that an app that converts ram to mp3 would be just as good.

sorry if this is a lame request bet i really dont want to install this prog again and i have searched google many times for a prog to convert them.

i have installed a plugin for winamp called tara, but i cant get it to work without real player being installed.

Hi

I use Real Alternative, it includes all the codecs needed to play real media files, but without the bloat of Realplayer & also includes Media Player Classic, so U can view them, i not had a prob in using it, so it might be the answer U are lookin 4 I find it works great with all kinds of rm files

Streaming works in various players, although best under WMP (classic, if you hate the looks of the new WMP releases).
