This is not possible if you are referring to a typical stereo CD track. You don't need to multipost about the issue, either.

There are filters for this however in a best case scenario you are hardly going to get what you would call clear music.

If you want clear music then get the karaoke version or whatever.

You can try using an audio editor and playing with the graphic and parametric EQ but it is very hard to get a clear result it depends a lot on the kind of music and type of mix, sometimes you get very good results and other times it really sucks.

a quick fix not great but works ok for general use is "VOCAL REMOVER" here :- http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/vremover.htm

description :-

So you want to impress your friends with your singing skill, but they only like to listen to those boring old top-40 songs; and that brand new Karaoke machine you just bought is broken. What can you do? Is everything lost? NO! Don't do anything drastic! There's still hope - Introducing AnalogX Vocal Remover!
AnalogX Vocal Remover works on the same principles that the hardware removers do - that in most instances vocals are equally mixed in both channels, and can identified and therefore removed by simply changing the phase on one channel by 180 degrees. While this won't remove vocals in all instances, it does work in many cases, and can sometimes be used to remove bass or breakbeat sections as well, which I find to be GREAT for sampling! Depending on the effects used on the vocals, sometimes the reverb or ambience of the vocals is left. In order to use the DirectX Vocal Remover, your application must support DirectX Audio Plugins, and must also support either realtime or non-realtime processing (such as Paris, Cakewalk, WaveLab, CoolEdit, etc). Vocal Remover REQUIRES a stereo sound streams, and supports either 16bit or 32bit data types.
In order to use the WinAmp Vocal Remover, you must already have WinAmp installed in your system; it REQUIRES a stereo sound stream, and supports only 16bit data types.

what about dart karaoke software, that would de vocalise a track for you.
Yes,this software will do it.Results vary with it however. Some tracks will be quite good while others will not.The vocals are never totally removed, but may be acceptable.

Finding a karaoke cd of the music you want is best. You might get lucky using a Kazaa search,or similar P2P clients.I have come across some good karaoke stuff that way.;)

when the singer sound is common
and is in center of both channels,
you can remove the voice easy using
"VOCAL REMOVER" that VIPER_1069 post.
only little "reverber" remains.
everything between the channels is removed,
only the separate sound remains.
you loose some basses too cos in
the most cases are in both channels.

i have another plugin from "steinberg"
that remove the voice and give better result.
i forgot his name and is not installed now.
i think that "vocalizer" is the correct name of this plugin.

i never used before the dart karaoke software,
but remember that some people got good results.

;-)
