hooking up a Lite-On DVD 163D

Hi,

I am getting a new computer with a CD burner and have separately purchased a Lite-On DVD 163D which I plan to install. My question is can I go from my digitial output on the DVD drive to my Soundblaster Live digital input and then listen to movies and music cds that way (leaving my audio cable hooked up to the CDRW drive).

Thanks.

Win 2000 or Win XP

You can turn digital audio extraction for both cd burner and liteon dvdrom - so both will send digital audio signals via PCI bus. You wont need the analogue or digital audio cables from drive to sound card.

Yes you can use the digital output from your LiteOn163
I am doing this from my LiteOn163 to my Creative live player 1024. I can´t use the digital output of my LiteOn 12102B writer.

Thanks. My Soundblaster Live Value card (the one on my old system) didn't give me that option. I am looking forward to the new system. Never had a DVD drive before.
