Home Video Quality

Hi :)

After owning a mini-dv cam corder for about 2 years, I finally now have the time to put my home made creations onto DVD...and boy do I have a lot!! Although I'm quite familiar with DVD movie authoring using DVD Maestro, I've never dabbled with home video editing etc.

I'm fortunate to have two options here; Pinnacle Studio 9 and Adobe Premiere.
I associate Adobe as a professional product and undoubtedly has excellent quality output but won't be as user friendly as Pinnacle.
Will Pinnacle give me top notch quality output to match that of the original recording on mini-DV ?
Would love some feed back if anyone out there has any experience with such software.

Thank you :)

Where no actual changes are made it should simply direct stream the DV. Only transitions, etc. need to be recompressed.

When it comes time to put it onto DVD you will need to convert to MPEG2. If the built in encoder is no good then you can always just use an external one like CCE.

Hello Celtic :)

Once captured, what format do I work with for the editing? Raw DV?
And would I be right in assuming the finished editing job (before encoding) is one large file that includes all the added transitions and added titles etc ready for encoding?
