I was just reading about GQ media at dvdrhelp and some people so its junk. So I agree about it being an incompatible with your burner. See if you can return that media. I only buy ritek so I don't have a problem like that. You may want to take a look at dvdrhelp to see what other people are using for media with that burner. Also incase you don't know it people have said in as little as 6 months after burning to cheap dvd media the disc can't be read any more. Just some thing to think about.
But I'm glad to see you fix your problem.:)

o and one more thing dose dvd-r use the same burning process as the dvd-rw kuz i was told thet dvd-r burns differently then dvd+r

Thats a good question. I would guess yes because of how home dvd players are so different in what they play. But I could be wrong. Maybe someone else can give some better input. :)

i hope thiss helps kuz i dont even know what the power calibration area is lol
i just hope its a problem that can be easely solved

Well if you can I'd would go back to the old firmware cause power calibration error is not good. But hopefully its just that firmware with that media. Cause a power calibration error could mean the drive is on the way out. The log is still saying media error so return that media if you can or give it to someone you don't like to much.
But most of all stop using that media your drive doesn't like it. :)
Try some other media and let us know how you make out.
