Help with .exe file burning

I was wondering if someone had this kind of situation, and if so, could you help out. I was able to download WinXP in .exe, but I keep getting "Is not a valid Win32 application" when I tried to use it after burning it on cd. I have Nero 5.5.10, but apparently I am going about burning it the wrong way. What is the correct way to burn such a file to cd so that I can use it properly. I searched the forums for a way, but being a newbie to this, I'm not sure which one is the right one to do. Any and all suggestions are welcomed.

never seen WinXP in an Exe file; this could probably be a selfextracting compressed archiv or simple fake/virus/trojan;

if it is a selfextracting compressed archiv, you must execute (double click) it before you burn it to CD-R (better CD-RW first);
if it is a fake/virus/trojan instead, you will have a lot of fun with it;

go to the source where you get it and ask what to do with it;

when you right-click the exe can you extract it,or double click to execute it---if not--file is no good...Btw,check the file first for trojans and viruses--for trojans would be pest patrol or treojan remover!!!!!!!Also here--never saw or heard of hp in exe format!!!!!!!
