well, to start out, i gave my computer to a computer guro who installed a dvd burner and dvd rom in my system. well, being the blonde girl i am, i didn't ask him how to work the darn thing. so i rented a movie and planed to burn it. well, he gave me a note that said, "set dvd to different region or alcohol. i have no idea what that means. i have the program nero start. it said that the dvd was copyrighted, but the guy who installed the dvd thingys said that there was a way to do it with this software, so if anybody is familiar with the program or knows what my problem is and how to fix it that would be super!

we won't support you in this special case; copying rented DVDs is against all laws;
please read our forum rules: http://www.dvdrbase.com/showthread.php?t=5446

set dvd to different region or alcohol. i have no idea what that means.
Start > Settings > Controll Panel > System > CD/DVD drives > your DVD burner > right click > Properties > Region Code

about copying DVDs you own, see our tutorial section: http://www.dvdrbase.com/forumdisplay.php?f=117

@ ilovessoad,

If perchance you would want to copy a DVD that you legally own, you would need to acquire a copy of DVD Decrypter 3.1.9.0 to be able to rip your DVD to your hard drive to remove copyright protection, macrovision protection and region coding before copying to a DVD-R. You are also going to need some type of software program like DVD2one to "shrink" your DVD to size that will fit on a DVD-R or DVD+R.

Suggest visiting Doom9.Net located at http://www.doom9.org/ to obtain a copy of DVD Decrypter 3.1.9.0 and other software programs you might need to copy (backup) your legally owned DVD's. For example I use DVD Decrypter 3.1.9.0, DVD2one v1.40, and CopyToDVD v2.4.11 to copy (backup) all my DVD's.

Hope this information proves to be useful.

Regards,
Coaster
