Help with audio problem backup dvd to vcd

I have followed the tutorial from Chicken Man and have all necessary software. Everything works great the video is there and the audio is in sync, but their is this like squelching noise every so often. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the sound distortion comming form playing on your DVD Player or on your PC (or both) ?

What speed are you burning at and what media are you using?
