Help Req with DVD Backup [forced subtitles]

I've got a DVD with some forced subtitles in it (when they speak foreign etc). Did a rip of it as I would normally do but don't get the forced subtitles. For all the DVDs I've done so far I've used Chickeman's tutorial (DVD Decrypter/[DVD2SVCD]/Maestro/Nero). Where am I going wrong on this one? Tried using subrip, but I don't fully understand it.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers
Andrew

I assumed you ticked the Subtitles box in the Subtitles Tab of DVD Decrypter? Were you able to locate the actual Sub stream that contained the forced subtitles? For these its best to also select Permanent Subtitles.

Heh, time flies. I've come back to looking at doing a movie with forced subtitles. Ripped using DVD Decrypter and selected all the subtitle streams. Now I'm trying to find the forced subtitles using SubRip 1.17.1. In the global options I've got forced subtitles only selected. Then I proceed as per the aforementioned tutorial. Can't seem to find the forced subtitles in any of the streams. At the moment I'm trying to do a copy of The Bourne Identity. I've got other movies that I know have forced subtitles e.g. LOTR Fellowship of the Ring. Anybody managed to get the forced subtitles out of any of these movies.

Been trawling through other forums and it seems people have the same issues I have, but definite answers seem a bit hard to come by. Can I get the result I want using different software combinations?

Once again, any help/pointers greatly appreciated.

Hmm, think I've managed to sort my shit out. Partly anyway. Found that the subtitles I want are all in one stream. So rather than being forced they are simply the final subtitle stream. I think what I need to do now is use that ifoedit program to make the one subtitle stream I'm using display on startup.

So called Forced Subs are not always mixed into other streams, but normally in a stream by themselves. I find 9 out of 10 are that way and rarely in other streeams. Maybe your just been looking to hard !

I had done LOTR 1 (but that was quite a while back and cant remember. Howerver I had just done my LOTR 2 Extended Edition and the Subs (when they speak Elvish??) is just simply the first Subtitle track (thats in the PAL Region 2 & 4 issue).
