Hi all, after a couple of years making vcd's i have finally got a dvd rewriter. I thought it would be a simple affair to make dvdr's but i am really struggling.

I am able to obtain the correct files by converting mpg's and i have put all the resulting .vob files into the correct folders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS.

The problem is no matter what i try i just cant get the movie to burn to dvdr. I have tried allsorts of programs including nero and each time it says the burn has been sucessfull but my stand alone DVD player wont play them and when i try to view what is on the disc using my computer there doesnt seem to be anything on it??

I have tried all methods i know of to burn them , such as making a dvd video and also copying the folders directly to dvdr. Nothing works and im getting really frustrated as i only got the computer the other day and was really hoping that this would be something that i would be able to do as i a also bought a TV card and was hoping to save a few programmes.

Any help would be really appreciated

thanks

Allison

open NERO choose to burn a DVD VIDEO

see image 1

drag the VOB files over to the VIDEO_TS folder from the file browser

see image 2

usually there are NO files to be dragged into the AUDIO_TS folders

then choose to burn the DVD ... make sure you use good media as more often than not cheap media will cause problems :(

also you could try burning SLOWER yes it takes longer but more chance of getting a working dvd :)

Thanks Viper, I seem to have a different version of nero to the one in your photos? i have nero express 6 and when i open the dvd video option there are no AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders.

Not sure what speed my dvd writer is ok to burn at but i tried 6x, is this ok?

Also i bought a 50 pack of dvdr discs for 17.99 from pc-world so could that be my main problem?

Thanks

Did you make sure to check box that says "Finalize DVD(No Further Writing Possible)"

And I too think slowing the speed down may prevent glitches.

I hate to say it but when you buy cheaper media, your not really saving.

Ritek media is gonna be your best bet for your money. I've tried a wide variety of generic media and wish I never had because alot of them have mysteriously stopped working or now have glitches they didn't have before.

try use RITEK dye medias if possible and 6x is no doubt too fast for the media you have :(

try 4x or even 2x

im using nero 5.5.10.56 in the classic format view maby try that version if you can find it :)

what brand of dvdr did you buy and whats it rated at for speed !?

Hi, I dont know what the type of media is as i threw away the packaging and there is nothing else to say what they are. I will have a go at burning at 2x speed and see if theats any better.

I just dont understand why although it says that the burn was fine, why does the disc seem empty??

I seem unable to download nero 5.5 from anywhere, i will try on Ebay.

Thanks for your help

Allison
