Help Needed

Hi everyone, please treat me as a newbie as i have never done this before.

My mate's sent me a copy of of his vacation video (2 parts in DivX format?) and i would like to fit and burn it as 2 SVCDs.

I would appreciate it if someone could direct me to the the right tutorial to follow in order to help me copy this movie onto two cds in SVCD format. I have looked throughout the site but being new i am not quite sure what tutorial applies to me.

I have Nero v 5.10 with the svcd/mpeg2 plugin.

I would also like to learn what problems can occur while doing this and how to solve them etc.

I am completly i your hands for guidance and advice and please feel free to direct me to any thing you think i need to read/look at or download to start me on my way to copying movies.

Thx
Charllie

Even with 90/99 minute media to add some extra, you're still looking at way below 1x speed - and one of the strengths of SVCD is that it goes up to 2x speed for max quality.

Resorting to CVD sizing, may make compression less arduous, but compatibility is poorer.

Only other things, if you MUST squeeze, is to reduce the audio bitrate as much as is acceptable, abnd try multi-pass VBR encoding with a low-ish maximum - If your trying to get below 1x average, then I'd suggest the maximum works out to 1x.

Take the easy way out.... rather than 3, I'd say split each one in half and go for 4 CD's - and if you want to make a neat job of it, get a 4 CD box.
