Help me with This backup

Hi there,

I'm a newbie in DVD backup world, but I think I found a pretty sure way to do it:
1.- Rip with DVD Decrypter
2.- If double layer, use Pinnacle InstantCopy to remove unwanted stuff and compress.
3.- Burn with DVD Decrypter.

The problem is that yesterday, I tried to backup "Unbreakable" and it's "multi angle", so I took off extra languages, tracks and subs, and the movie is still 6 GBs.
Then I thought that may be eliminating angles 2 and 3 would do the job, so I tried to use multi-angle procesing (keep just angle 1) in DVD Decrypter, but when I tried to open the IFO in InstantCopy, it said "Corrupted DVD Sources".
So here are the questions:

1.- Would eliminating extra angles imply space saving?
2.- How can I eliminate those extra angles without corrupting the IFO?

Thank you for your time,

Yes, but that way I'll lose the MENUS.....I want to keep them.
What? Which tutorial did you read? I always have menus on my backups. The best I can say is try it to a DVD RW first.

When U use Re-Authore in DVD Shrink, you can't copy menus.
I've had problems just with this movie, and it is because of the angles.

Turns out I have this movie so I'm going to give it a try and I'll let you know how I make out. :)

Well so far so good. This is how I did it:
DVD Decrypter (3.1.9.0) > DVD Shrink (3.1.4) Then I just removed anything other than english and now I'm backing it up so I can burn it to a DVD+RW. I will use CopyToDVD (2.4.17.269) to burn it. So when I'm done the only thing the DVD will not have is french and spanish Audio. Hope that helps.

You don't really need the dts 5.1 for this to work also. This will save some space and the movie compressed less.
What compresion rate is GOOD???, I mean, at what % od compresion you start to apreciate de difference between the back-up and the DVD ???, I ask this because my problem started when I thought that 65% was unacceptable.....but I'm a newbie, so may be it is not bad.

I just delete everything except the movie. Why have everything else?
When I pop my copied dvd into my player the movies start playing from start to finish. No bull crap to mess with just plain movie.

I like the bull crap. :) Sometimes I like to pick a chapter or watch some extras. As far as I see it you can't backup the whole dvd why bother. As far as how much compresion is too much I think thats up to to you. I say buy a RW and try it but I didn't fid any problems with that compresion.

burnig

use the dvd decrypter.......dvd shrink....and burn at once from the laz tutorial takes a little longer but works fine.the new dvd shrink 3.1 does the automatic compression of the movie and you get to keep everything, :p

what I use

I use dvd shrink and save the whole movie onto the hard drive, then I use DVD RIPPER(Free now) and remove what i want. it replaces the removed items with a spoof (very small)vob file and reconstructs the ifo file so you dont need to do anything fancy to fix it. You can save menus and links or just extras and the main movie. It also takes care of SOME ANGLES. In shrink you can make still pictures and remove some things but not always what you want. with dvd ripper, you can. just look for it on the net.
