I'm trying to burn a DVD with a Dell Precision 350 Workstation 2.8 processor 1 gig ram, running win2k, with an nec dvd+rw nd-1100a. I have upgraded firmware. Roxio which I've read is horrible gives me error "No supported DVD-Recorder is detected on your system" I also have tried DVDit that was bundled with Adobe Premiere 6.5. When outputting from DVDit I get error "Recorder cannot record on this kind of disc" and it ejects the nec drive. I've tried two types of media, sony and memorex at 4X. I've upgraded all latest software etc, trust me I went through 6 hours of dell support checking everthing plus 2 hours with Sonic (DVDit software), they said software should work with my system and that it is a hardware problem. Dell says software problem (figures). Have checked drivers, master, slave jumpers. Tell me I'm missing something easy?

"Recorder cannot record on this kind of disc" - are you sure you have the correct media?

The NEC 1100A is a +R/+RW drive only, it cannot use -R media other than with a dubious and rather risky hacked firmware with very questionable results.
