I converted an mpg and an AVI file to SVCD using TMPGEnc and it was ok, I used VCDEasy for burning and it did. when I open the CD I see the following folders (EXT, MPEG2, SEGMENT and SVCD). when I play it on my DVD player (sony DVP S535d, which plays svcd) it says no disc! do I need to do another step before I actually play it?

I assu7med you used one of the SVCD Templates when you used TMPGEnc to do the conversion?

You say your Sony player plays SVCD's, have you actully played any or just relying on what the book says?

Have you played the final burnt disk on the PC okay, with WinDVD or PowerDVD or similar ?

What brand of CD's have you used and what burning speed did you use? These will detemine greatly if they play or not.

The CDs I use are called black pearl (made in tiwan or china, am not in the US) also I don't think i used a template (how would I know?) also I tried to play it on my other desktop computer and it didn't work it said unkown format it asked me to download a plug in. regarding the speed how can I be sure of wht exact speed it used?? am sorry but am not very expert on these things

Okay, sounds like you never converted it to a compliant SVCD. I suggest you have a good read of this tutorial here http://www.dvdrbase.com/showthread.php?t=15298 Althought it uses CCE for the encoding, you can use TMPGenc if you already have it. Not quite as good an encode and defenitely a LOT slower than CCE, but it can be used. Select it in the Encoder Tab and leave at its default settings.
