Help - Getting less VCD Quality on Premiere 6

Hi,

I have created the VCD but the quality is not as much good as
normal copy to video cassettes. I have used the following
to create VCD.

* Capture & edit using Adobe premiere
* created mpeg1 using LSX plugin in premiere
* created VCD of the above mpeg1 file using ulead movie factory

please help. how to get the full quality. The VCD quality
is little bit blur than the cassette

Thanks folks

The most importand thing is to use deinterlacing or interpolering smart. Your video is actually made by 2 fields and if you just use only one you mist halv the resolution. If you use blend for deinterlacing it gives you a motion bluer effect for movement. It's good. LSX can give you a good vcd if the original footage is good. Good means free for noice, legal colors, contrast etc. I'm using Tmpgenc to encode the fake video stream delivered by Avisyth from Premier timeline.

I just forget, VCDs are a litlebit blury. It helps to eliminate blockiness.

Simple solution, stop using LSX Encoder to make MPEG file, its the worst (well one of the worst) MPG encoders around. Fast but produces crappy conversions.

Also, leave Ulead Movie Factory out. TMPGEnc will be able to convert directly to a VCD compliant MPG file and you then just simply burn with Nero to a VCD.

All explained in the tutorials mentioned by Elpresidente.

i normally encode with tmpgenc to a vcd compliant format and then start a new project in ulead movie factory, import the newly made vcd compliant file and you can then make your own chapters wherever you want plus haveing background music etc on the startup screen of your vcd. because the file is already compliant the quality remains untouched when burning to a VCD
hope this made sense:)

Hi ChickenMan,

I have read all your tutorials. All are really good.
I found that TMPGEnc converts
AVI to MPEG format. But i want to convert Adobe Premiere 6
Timeline movie to MPEG (VCD) using TMPGEnc. Can you please tell me
how to do that. after installing the TMPGEnc which is not
listed in the Adobe Premiere for selecting as export option.

Thanks

@stimpleton, no probs I understand why your using it now. Just stay clear of LSX. Save as an AVI would be better and convet AVI (with Huffyuv codec if you have a large NTFS partition on your HD) with TMPGEnc for best results.

@just4forum, normally you can export from Premier to TMPGEnc directly. I have read where some have been able to somehow frameserve to TMPGEnc but sorry I really cant help you there. As I mentioned above, can you save your Time Line movie as a standard AVI, then convert that in TMPGEnc to VCD.

There is the Panasonic Encoder Pluggin for Premier and it will give you almost TMPGEnc quality. Get it from our main site www.cdrsoft.cc

Hi ChickenMan,

Thanx a lot for your help.
I have tried both Panasonic and TMPGEnc. The TMPGEnc quality is far better than
Panasonic and it's almost similar quality as AVI.

I have found the solution to export from Premiere Timeline to TMPGEnc also.
for that follow the below two links

* download the plugin, DLL and Registry from
h**p://www.pasternak.net/boris/dv2seg.shtml

* Instruction to install and make it work,
h**p://pwp.netcabo.pt/0165394101/Premiere_AVISynth_TMPGEnc.html

For this they are using AVISynth. but dont download the files from AVISynth site.
when i tried that was not working. so download from the about link.

Have a fun guys.

another way to export from premiere is to use the PICvideo codecs, they are lossless and create a standard avi file which can then be converted by using tmpgenc, i do this and get outstanding quality:) here are the codecs with the keygen file

Caution! PicVideo isn't lossless, it's an MJPEG codec so technically is always lossless though with the highest quality settings you would still get very nice results.

Another choice for serving the premiere timeline to TMPG/Cinemacraft is Premiere Video Server plugin:

stimpleton,

I have install the PicVideo but i dont find any application on the
program group or even in the Premiere's exportTimeline movie option also.

can you please tell me how to use that one. i dont even find the document in w**.jpg.com

thanx

that is the best way (Video Server plugin) with the best quality but it needs a serial or something , do you know where can find it?

Hey Just4Forum?? The Picvideo is a codec not an application..It will be in the Codecs list in Premier or any program which renders video or caprures it...
