Hi Everybody,

I'm very new to the computer/ripping world, so please be gentle with me!!

I bought dvd2mp3, and the dvd rip was fine, now it won't let me get past a couple of minutes of the rip and then it freezes my machine. I've tried different DVD's, but to no avail.

I download the aspichk prog and this is what it told me:

Read this Pay close attention to the Forceaspi section. In your case use the killaspi function. Then use the install aspi function to fix the aspi layer.

Now the bad news - DVD2MP3 is still not letting me rip audio from dvd.
My CloneCD is still working fine (if that's significant, I don't know)
Is there another audio ripper I could use, or would I have the same trouble?

Thanks for all your help.

Pat

I've never heard of that program.Do they have support forums,or contacts?Did it work as a demo version?I always recommend try before you buy.

I bought the prog from www.dvd222.com
I did use the demo version before I bought the prog itself and the full version worked fine the one and only time I used it.

Their support just kept referring me to the FAQ and were not very helpful at all, I followed their advice, and after telling them that the prog ripped about 2 minutes of audio and then froze, their response was:

"I am glad the program works a little on your computer".

hmmmmmmmm dvd222 software ... i remember them .....we have had problems with software by this maker before and we warned people to AVOID :(

googling around there are a few programs that do this such as "dvd audio ripper" just enter in google search "dvd audio to mp3" no quotes you will find loads of links :)

Hello Viper,

Took your advice, I downloaded #1 Audio ripper and installed it.

I might be being a bit harsh on dvd222, the exact same thing happened with #1 audio, it got a minute or into the rip and it froze my machine.

I'm totally puzzled now (as if I wasn't before)

Could it be a hardware problem?

Pat

If the demo worked, something must have changed since then(software, hardware),or could be a dirty or damaged disc.

Yeah, the demo worked, I even managed to rip a dvd.

Since then I've installed 3 lots of software, Kodak Easyshare digital camera, Smartdraw and Realplayer. All of which I've since uninstalled in the hope it was one on these causing the trouble.

There have been no hardware changes tho.

Pat

Is the Dvdrom drive set as DMA?Nothing you installed should cause problems. If you can still rip the original dvd you did with the demo, then it points to the current disc.

I'm out of ideas on this one.

Don't know if the dvd-rom is set at dma?
The original disc I ripped will not rip now I've tried about 5 different discs, cleaned them all etc..

Looks like i'll have to do without ripping audio then :(

Thanks for your time and trouble Woody
