HDTV/PDTV - XviD > VCD Lipsync woes!

At the end of my teather with certain HDTV/PDTV XviD TV ep files with lipsync problems, tried most of the usual things but still no joy. My usual method is to load the xVid file into VirtualDub, strip out the sound and save as .wav > Run thru TMPGEnc using NTSC Film template with XviD for vid source and saved .wav as audio.

No matter what method I use though the lipsync is way out all the way thru the episode. Strange thing is on some of these files everything is fine but many are way out. Any ideas on what to try next, I have been told (can't see it though myself) that using VirtualDub Mod is the way to go with this mp3 sound. If it is what settings would you use?

Now I've attached a typical example of a GSpot screenshot of a problem one here:-

Any ideas?

So does it play in sync?

Problem is that AVI was never intended to handle VBR audio.

If it plays in sync then you could try frameserving via AVISynth.

Also the AVI decompressor that comes with AVI2VCD is supposed to be good for dodgy VBR mp3 AVI's.

Can't wait for the VBR AAC AVI's to start appearing.

Yeah the XviD plays in sync it's just when converted to mpeg it goes outta the window. I tried VDub Mod yesterday and as I suspected was a complete waste of time and exactly the same lipsync problem on the converted mpeg at the end of it all.

Thanks for the advice m8, I'll give AVI2VCD a try later. ;)
