Hard Drive Data Speed

I am using an IBM Aptiva 2153-E2N computer. The hard drive controller is on baord and rated ultra 33. I installed a 24x10x40 cd/rw and the hard drive data reaad is too slow. I ordered a ultra 100 hard drive controller to replace the one on board. Somewhere I ran a program that measured the data read speed, but cannot find find where I ran it from. I use Nero and NTI cd Maker and I thought it was somewhere in one of these. Where can I get a utility that will measure the read speed?

In Nero's preferences under the cache tab you can find the speed test, if I remember correctly. Also check if you have DMA enabled and the correct busmaster drivers, for max perfomance. You can find benchmark apps searching in _www.google.com

Open Nero Express and click: More > Configure > Cache > Test all drive speeds
