green flashing on disc 2

OK, this is a little hard to explain and I'm not going to tell the title but I just did a split like this:

Code:
 Item List Menu Item List

   1- 39 both 1- 42 both
  40- 43 disc 1
  44- 55 disc 2
  56- 83 disc 1
  84- 88 disc 2
  89- 90 disc 1
  91-784 disc 2
 785-947 disc 1
What's very odd is the first DVDR does just fine. The second never seems to properly initialize. It makes some green flashes for a while then the DVD player acts as if the disc was just inserted and attempts to search it again. This will repeat endlessly.

Both file sets, disc 1 and disc 2, play just fine with PowerDVD and the second disc will also play properly. I've burned multiple copies of the files for disc 2 on differing DVD-R media and with different burners, all with the same result.

It seems to me if a needed file isn't in the disc 2 file set, it shouldn't play with PowerDVD. Even so, the DVDRs play just fine in computers.

Something is very odd and I'm stumped.

What would cause this to happen?

does it get to the menu?. It sounds like it doesn't which is strange seeing as you have left the menu. Then again it may not be strange as the removed items can have hidden buttons and commands even in the movie side and I've come across a few examples of this

have you tried modifying the first play?

p.s. I'm hoping my new previewer will show these hidden buttons so it will help matters ;)

The hardware player is an Apex 2500. The burners are Optorite DD0203 and LiteOn LDW-411S.

I just saw something odd with disc 2 of another title. The same sort of thing happened when I tried to eject disc 2. It started just fine but on pushing the eject button, the green flashes were interspersed with the last still displayed.

It's all very odd. There doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern wrt media or player. It's really odd that the PC players have no problem, whatsoever.

Yeah, I'll take a look at the first play item. Still, the entire menu structure is on both discs, for exactly this reason.
