got a prob with tmpg's cut tool

firstly as said above if i try to split a svcd mpeg2 file made with tmpgenc with his cut tool then the 2 (or more) sole files cause a not svcd not compliant error in nero. but the whole file roks. what's the problem? any solution?

secondly, what settings (tmpg and dvd2avi) would you use for a ntsc, 23,xx fps, interlased movie to encode into svcd. like babylon 5 "the gathering"?

thanx in advance

Second first, load in the SVCD NTSC Template, change Motion Search to Highest Quality and tick the 3:2 Pull down flag

First Q, this has been reported a number of times but works fime for me and others. All I can suggest is try a few different versions of TMPGEnc (12a is good) and in the future only encode Disk one first and then Disk 2 buy using the Source range feature and the Save Project/Batch Encode feature. It then basically encodes the 2 mpg files as 2 files and splitting is not needed.

To cut your current file, I suggest you try either Wombles MPEG2VCR 3.x or even M2-Edit as both handle SVCD very well.

thanx m8.

if you don't mind i would have one more question. how can i handle a movie which is coded partially non interlaced and partiall progressive? the format change also ntsc/film but the framerate is constant at 29,xx fps. e.g. senx and the city season one and two?

thanx in advance.

NB is there any good help file or tutorial which would explain every single feature of tmpg and of dvd2avi? i had never to do with video processing so most of their terms are not really familiar to me.

If DVD2AVI jumps between FILM and NTSC when you hit F5 to preview the movie & statistics, then if it > 90% FILM then turn Force Film on. Then encode to FILM in TMPGEnc. If <90% FILM stay with NTSC 29.97 all the way.

I also have looked and looked for a full explanation of all the features of TMPGEnc, but have been unsuccessful also. I've seen a number of attempts but they dont explain it all. I'm not sure if I fully understand them all either! To write one would be a LOONNGG process, but probably worth it. I'll see what I can do.

thanx again

some feedback:

i experienced the same problems by using m2-edit pro. the cuted part of the original svcd file was corrupted. mpeg2vcr even crushed everytime. the tmpg12a was no halp either. my os is win2k sp2.

BUT the current x.130 and nero 5.5.7.6 are workin' perfectly.

so i'm very happy now m8

all the best
