What is Good Media for PS2 and Sony DRU-500a

What has anyone found out about this?
I am looking to backup my copies and could use some advice.

I was about to ask a similar q.,about the external sony DRX-500UL,but theres the answer..I thought the Verbatim or Pioneer disks would be the best but it seems to be more trial and error than anything,it's all in what YOUR particular PS2 likes,so try a few different DVD-r until you find one that works well..

Yep...also software does matter.Psx_Paul recommends Record Now Max and Primo Dvd.Check out his PS2 tutorials,very nice.;)

Just had some sucess

Found that Verbatim DVD-RW works .
May have to pay a little more for dark colored disks.
But worth it.

NEW SONY BURNER DRU-10a

Heard that Sony will be replacing the DRU-500a with a DRU-10a
Anyone else hear this?
May be out Jan 24th or so.

Woody or PSX_Paul..OK,since I can't find the right place,I'll ask here. In the RecordNow Max to make the PS2 DVD backup's,HOW DO I TURN THE "Auto Insert Notification" OFF !! So far I have had no luck at all with making backups,just coasters..Still trying different media.

In some RecordNow Max applications this works, down the bottom of the screen where it says Auto Insert Notification = ON, double click it and turn it off through there.

Otherwise
If you have Prassi PrimoDVD, do the above as it works

or
If you have CloneCD, Tools>Settings...>Auto Insert Notification>untick box

Here is the message I get:

I have not been able to find the Primo DVD to try it.nor the Clone CD..I just use CDRWIN for the cd copies,but this won't work for the DVD copies..I'll go play with the RecordNow some more,have a few disks left

CloneCd doesn't work with dvd......Maybe your original dvd's are protected?Check your dvd with ScoutEasy or ClonyXXL.......Although there are claims that PS2 dvd's are not protected,I have 1 that proves the opposite (or ScoutEasy and CLonyXXL are wrong)
IF it's protected,use Alcohol 120% with the default PS2 profile...

Hello, i just wanted to say that i had some troubles burning PS2 to DVD-R, but since i use Padus DiscJuggler all my DVD-R's are burning oke and play(burnspeed 1x, test first-if ok write). I first did use RecordNow and Primo(same engine)following the guides from the forum. Sometimes a good burn, but most times a coaster. I'm now also using "Princo" DVD-R's.
The problems that some people have with the "Princo's" are that there are two type brands. Korean(not good) or Japanese(good).
I'm using a Sony DR500Ui. firmware 1.0f.
I've also dicovered that when you burn a DVD+R with DiscJuggler on 1x speed, the recording is half the time when you burn a DVD-R.


Hope this helps a little.

Anyone know where to get the Alcohol 120%?
Finally got some good burns with Recordnow Max..3 disc's on "cheap" K Hypermedia DVD-R...
Burner is Cendyne DVR-105 (Pioneer clone)

So anyone know just what DVD-R media is the best,is it the silvers or the dark or the light colored disc for the PS2 backups??

It depends on the Version of PS2

I had a disk tht would not play on mine { light purple}
But played on the new one from the store last week.

I used Ritek DVD-r 4.7g/gp dark purple.
