Gigastudio

Shit I just found out that Audgy is no more supported by giga in XP :( , the main site report that only vxd drivers are supported, no way for WDM. Do you know any work around?

Gigastudio supports under NT architecture (Win2k/XP) GSIF devices only.. if you have decent audio card (Echo, Terratec or Midiman) with GSIF drivers, it works like charm!

This applies to Iore. I found the Gigastudio at w*ww.midifan.com/download under name of Gigasampler. It was 3 rar files but I don't remember for sure ,I think it was a paradox version. I downloaded and installed under 98se worked fine but you also need a sound library which I don't have either.

Eh eh yes the one on midifan is by paradox, anyway I have a f**king Audigy, so it seems that the only way is win 98 and vxd drivers, as far as I know nemesys don't support WDM. This is a good reason to sign the petition against creative....;)
They sell their soundcard with 30 mb drivers with lot of with pretty graphics and can't include gigasampler support, strange !
Right now I'm thinking to poko's advices, if I had an Echo I would not have problems or a Terratec or whatever else...
Creative products are fine for newbie and shit for pro

Gigastudio will unlikely support WDM.. especially in NT mode, because of latency and synch issues! Also WDM kernel streaming driver model (used by Sonar) is rather a "hack" (although an official Microsoft one) to bypass mixer and sound manager in Windows w2k/xp.. and is not easy to write driver correctly (even Midiman or Terratec have loads of problems with it)!

GSIF and ASIO are standards designed from ground with latency issues in mind.. they are for professional use, don't expect them in low end cards.. IMHO Audigy is still low end in this area.. fine for gaming, but nothing else! AudioPhile 24/96 or EWX24/96 are not expensive, the only drawback is lack of advanced gaming support (EAX etc.)

I really hope creative will think about this problem, yeah I know Audigy is low-end, but I guess that if they want they CAN make better driver working with nemesys group and make the whole thing work anyway. I found some drivers we should keep an eye on:
h**p://www.kxproject.spb.ru/index.php

This group is developing free drivers for all EMU based cards and seems really interesting, If someone has already tried them...would like to know impressions ;)
