I've got a yamaha crf1 drive in a pyro 1394 firewire enclosure, running off a mac ibook on system 9.1. I want to upgrade the firmware on the drive to get intermediate speeds between the rated max 44x and 16x which the original release defaults down to.
Trouble is, the yamaha firmware updater for their firewire version keeps coming up with an error message ['file not found: error code -43]. My guess is that it's not recognizing something in the 3rd party firewire bridge. The firmware itself seems to be the same for the different models (scsi, eide, usb, firewire). I know this is mainly a pc forum, but do any of you have good ideas about what I might be able to do about this, short of installing the drive into a friend's pc and installing the firmware there?
cheers
