frameserving avi2svcd

Hi,
is it possible to "feed" avi2svcd with a frameserver-stream from virtualdub?
Would be great for converting after cutting out commercials of a captured avi.

I think .vdr files from Vdub frame-server cannot opened directly in AVI2VCD. Another wrapper is needed like Link2.
More info to w*w.videotools.net

Why dont you just edit the captured avi in Virtualdub, then save avi and feed this directly into TMPGEnc, no frameserving necessary.

For encoding it with tsunami, i could frameserve directly without intermediate saving.
The problem is, that i
1. want to use avi2svcd with cce and
2. sometimes i cannot save, cause I'm running out of disc space.

So, if u don"t want intermediate files, the only way to go is with Link2.

avi---(Vdub)---vdr----(Link2)---avi---->DVD2SVCD

Do a search also in Doom9"s forums.

Link2 works great for mpg-files.
But there's a problem with avis:
the audio will only be sent as wave file.
Any suggestions?

"...the audio will only be sent as wave file"

What do u mean? Link2 does not send any files, used like frame "indexing". If u got a message that the audio is not compatible etc... go to options and check the "RAW Audio".

it's strange but that doesn't help either.
When I check raw, avi to svcd gives me no error-message, but there's no audio in the resulting mpegs.

ok, finally it works (dunno what was wrong).
But like always: One problem goes - another arises:
I get a warning when starting the vdub-frameserver, telling me something like "video and audio will not synchronize because of some video-filters".
After removing the 2d-cleaner, the warning has gone.

So here's my question: Will the final mpeg really be out of sync ?

I'd go right back to my first suggestion here but feed the AVI (sorry you do have to save it to HD) diectly into DVD2SVCD (actually AVI2SVCD).

If the original AVI has a correct frame rate (ie 23.976 or 25.00 or 29.97) then yes it will be in sync but if the frame rate is say 24 or 30, then it will be out of sync.

Definition?

Hello,

Could someone please give me a definition (average one...) of frameserving to me please?

NEver found a definition yet. But from what I understood, it's only about presenting a video(+ audio) stream from on tool in a format that another tool can understand? There is something that I did not catch, obviously... There must be some additional informatiosn about the stream carried along, isn't it?

more Problems...

I thought it works, but now when it comes to bbmpeg in avi2svcd then bbmpeg hangs without an error message.
I've tried it 2 times (with enabled RAW-Option in Link2) .
any idea??
