Fireburner 2.20! For Win Yes a new update.

Friday, May 16, 2003

Today, FireBurner V2.20 for Windows has been released. This is a taste of things to come. Here are a few key points:

We are now using our own MP3 decoder that is compiled into the Exe file. The result is the FireBurner.exe is smaller! The MP3 decoder is cross platform and already runs under Linux. We plan to release an update for the FireBurner Linux Editon soon!

We tweaked the drive detection routines, fixed drive speed settings and added a Device Detection Log. This will make it easier to help us add support for your new devices.

We cleaned up the user interface significantly. We made the burn/test burn stuff more obvious and added an ask on exit dialog.

I want to also take this opportunity to introduce my brother Marshall who you have probably already met in the forums. He is now actively and directly involved in the development of FireBurner and other projects. We are looking forward to hearing from you:)

I have stopped using Fireburner for windows ages ago, but I gave the Linux port a chance recently.
I'd rather avoid that... this soft is not worth a dime. Suffice to say that both the old+trustee X-CDRoast and the new *nix CDR king, K3b (_www.k3b.org) are free/opensource and ages better.
Finally one may like to try Arson ( _hhtp://arson.sourceforge.net ) as his default *Nix audio ripper- although it can also burn too. IMHO it's not of the caliber of K3B, which is a GREAT application, but it's well worth looking at.
