Finished DVD plays in PC not settop player

I removed some extras using DVDStripper 0.3.0, processed it, used DVDShrink to fit to DVD size and burned using Nero. The DVD now plays fine on the PC but not on the settop DVD player. It keeps spinning when I insert it and I do not see anything on the screen. Tried using different DVDs and same result.

looks like simple media incompatibility;
check out your player fabricator's hompage for recommended media brands;
might you get good results by using Ritek G04 -R discs;

Yep its probably a media peoblem as per D.
No, it is definitely not the media problem. I'm using this same DVD+RW disc that I have burnt and played several times without any problems. I examined the problem further and found out the following:

1. The first screen that I see when I insert the disc is that standard copyright warning message.

2. Next there are some trailers that I have deleted but I have kept that small 10K file size short black fading screen in that chapter. I always do that for all chapters when I'm deleting the main chapter contents.

3. The next screen is the Main Menu screen.

For some reasons the DVD first plays (1) above and starts spinning and does not respond to any commands. However if I press the MENU button on the remote while the Warning screen is being loaded, I can get to the Main Menu and play the DVD properly. If I do not press the MENU button, it hangs up.

Is it necessary that I always keep the material preceding the Main Menu for this to work?

BTW the DVD plays all okay on the PC without doing any above tricks.

DVD_User, it sounds to me like your settop player is giving you the problem. Some players are very touchy when you remove certain files. I have a Sony and I know this from experience. I have found this especially true when removing the written expressions of the actors, etc cell(s), my Sony get's to that spot and spins until you hit the menu button. I usually DON'T delete it with DVDS, I use Ifoedit and edit the playback time of the cell to (1) second and everything plays as it should on my Sony.
I hope this might help with your problem(s). Also be careful when stripping PGC linked movies, that you don't strip out something you need. Good Luck!

@DVD_User,
as Mr Fixer mentions, Sony's are very fussy and that was one main reason I got rid of mine as it caused too much grief (even with perfectly fine backups!). So this may be the cause so try them in another player if you can

another possibility is that the parts you are missing may also have hidden buttons

and finally, Ifoedit also creates issues as it doesn't update the IFO's correctly depending on the original DVD info
