fat 32 to ntfs

I hear that I need to convert my hard drive to ntfs for dvd backing up. I have windows ME and don't know how to do that. Can someone tell me?
Also, I was wondering whether or not it is possible to run my programs from my laptop which does have the NTFS, but does not have the burner hardware. It is on a network however so I figured I could access the burner from my network connection and run eveything from the laptop. Will I encounter any problems that way?

thanks,

1. the problem with fat32 is the 2gb file size limit, so ntfs is recommended for dvd backups
2. winME doesnt support ntfs, you need win2000 or winxp (both have a tool for conversion, and most partition programs can do that ... BUT you might lose data, its better to copy the data somewhere else, format the partition to ntfs and copy your files back)
3. afaik there is burning software that works over network .... but i cant remember the name ... never tested it so dunno how good that works

Where do I find a guide that will show me how to do this in windowsME? I have successfully copied a dvd before but don't remember how I did it, nor do I rememeber what free software I used. Only thing I remember for sure is that I did do it in WindowsME and used free software.
