Far Cry DVD ROM backup

Trying to make a back up of my copy of Far Cry.
Problem is its a DVD. It has 3.45 GB of data on the disc and is Safedisc 3 protected (according to GCW)

I have tried to back up using latest version of clonecd, but i set the reading speed to 4 x and it whizzes through it in about 30 seconds only making a file of 1.5 GB. (So I never bothered burning it)

I also tried alcohol but that wouldn't give me the cd options just the dvd option image maker. It read ok but didn't burn correctly.

I'm using a Liteon 163D DVD Rom to read and a Pioneer 104 to burn.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW Farcry is absolutely awesome a bit buggy(actually a lot buggy) which is probably to be expected as its one of the first(if not the first) truly DX 9 games. The graphics are stupendous though my P4 2.8 533fsb, 512mb of DDR 3200 crucial ram, and hercules radeon 9700 pro struggles a bit with all the eye candy turned on and the water effects are simply staggering.

Surely enough it is not safedisk... the DVD has no protection, but there is also a CD version available which uses safedisk 3.20. Safedisk is not appplicable (yet) on DVD, there are only few cases of Securom 4.8X.
What the DVD version does is scanning for emulation software (Farstone, CloneCD, Alcohol, Daemon Tools) and quitting when such software is detected.

I have clonecd and alcohol on my machine and the game runs fine. It doesn't quit.

What i need is to be able to make a backup, any suggestions

Had a quick look at the DVD version the other day and it looked like SafeDisc3 to me. That is to say it contained SafeDisc files. Did not check for read errors or weak sectors though. Also did not check the EXE.

non of the replies have been any of any real use, clone doesn't get the whole disc only 1.5 gb's worth, and alcohol doesn't work with it.

Oh well thanks anyway guys.

There is a cracked exec at Gamecopyworld.Not sure if it will work for the dvd version.Might be worth a try.The crack normally will allow a non-perfect backup to run.

sorry guys you've misunderstood me. The point is i couldn't make any kind of even semi-working backup at all(a one i could install from and apply a crack), the backup i made wouldn't even install. It got to about 70% installation then quit saying data cab file is missing. Anyways i returned it for a refund I aint paying £35 for something i can't make a backup of(and certainly not something as crash prone as far cry), which is a pity cos it was an awesome game.

I'll buy it when it comes down in price, then I won't mind too much if anything happens to the original
