extracting sp4 from w2k cd

How would I go about extracting the sp4 from a win2k cd?...I just need the original 2k cd to boot up a laptop

Why can't you boot it up with the SP4 CD? If you want to repair the existing 2000 installation on the laptop, the presence of SP4 won't harm- rather the opposite.

I believe windows was deleted from this laptop, therefore there is no present os on it and when i try using the 4 boot disks (b/c it won't read the cd i have) when i get to the end of the 4th, it prompts for the 'cd labeled Win 2000 pro'....thanks...any more suggestions :)

Any laptop being 4+ years old should boot from the 2000 CD- unless you somehow busted the boot record when you slipstreamed SP4 in it. Just press F2, del, F12 or whatevel your bios needs while booting and change the boot device sequence within bios (I know it's not possible on some odd and old portables, eg Toshiba Libretto- boot sequence can be changed only within Windows, which sucks- hope not your case).
Anyway- if you haven't changed the initiial 2000 CD structure you can still use the 2000 SP4 CD after booting from the 4 diskette set. If it is one of those... errr... slightly suspect "n in1" CD's, then I'm afraid you cannot do much...
