Excel no go

I use an old PC for just letters etc. The problem I'm currently having is that Excel will not startup. The PC is an old P200 with 64Mg ram, Win98 OS and MS Office 97. Excel won't run from the desktop icon, the 'Start - Programs' link or from the file in the MS directory. So far I've tried un-installing Office and re-installing it. I've tried re-installing Windows98. I've tried service pack 1 and 2 for office but I just keep getting the same error message when it tries to start :-

EXCEL CAUSED A DIVIDE ERROR IN MODULE EXCEL.EXE AT 015F:50334e48

Does anybody know what this means and how to fix it.

Thanks,
Ade.
